A suitable candidate is in generally good health, understands the risks of surgery and the length of recovery, and expects healing, not absolute perfection. Smoking and nicotine impair blood flow to wounds, so nicotine products should be discontinued as directed by the surgeon prior to surgery and throughout early recovery.<\/p>

Surgery should not be done under external pressure, out of a momentary emotion, or in the hope of solving broader self-esteem or relationship problems. When in doubt, it is wise to give the decision time.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHow long does it take to heal from rhinoplasty?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The speed of the healing process depends on the technique used for the specific surgery, but generally, the bridge and tip of the nose will have tape and a plastic splint on it for 10 days. During this time, the nose may not breathe normally. Swelling and bruising may occur around the eyes. These are usually largely gone by 14 days after surgery. Slight swelling may persist on the tip and bridge of the nose for several months after rhinoplasty. The scarring process takes approximately 12 months in total.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhat should you not do immediately after nose surgery?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

You should not blow your nose for 7 days. You should not do any heavy physical exertion for 14 days after the nose surgery, and you should not consume alcohol or tobacco products. You should not wear glasses on the bridge of your nose for 4 weeks. Going to the sauna is not recommended for 1-6 months. In general, the initial recovery time at home should be 14 days. After that, you can return to normal life with some minor restrictions.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHow much does the nose hurt after surgery?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Most noses do not hurt much after surgery, and over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol and ibuprofen are sufficient if necessary. In case of repeated surgeries and after major nasal trauma, it may be necessary to use a rib cartilage graft during surgery - then the chest area may hurt and stronger painkillers may be needed.<\/p>

In general, my patients do not have problems with pain, but rather experience itching under the nasal splint and discomfort from nasal obstruction and watery discharge, which may occur in the first few weeks.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

We evaluate the result of rhinoplasty at the reception 10 days, 1 month, 6 months and 12 months after the operation. Minor cosmetic defects may be correctable with an additional procedure performed under local anesthesia, but approximately 15-20% patients may need a repeat operation to correct the result of rhinoplasty. As a rule, a repeat operation is not performed earlier than one year after the initial operation, because the scarring processes must have been completed. The initial shape is visible after the splint is removed, but this is not the final result. Most patients see a more stable result within 6-12 months; a nose with thick skin may take 12-24 months to clear up.<\/p>

The less time has passed since the rhinoplasty, the more the soft tissue swelling obscures the final result and the changes related to scarring have not yet occurred. Slight swelling may also occur more than 1 month after the surgery.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Yes, these operations can and should be combined. For example, a common functional problem is a deviated septum. At the same time, the septum acts as an important support element for the tip of the nose and a source of donor cartilage for other areas of the nose during plastic surgery. If the septum is previously operated on separately, it may do a disservice to the subsequent aesthetic rhinoplasty. Therefore, the problems of beauty and function should be solved with a single rhinoplasty.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

For minor rhinoplasty, it is possible to go home the evening of the surgery, but in most cases you will also have to spend one night in the hospital after the surgery.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The swelling is not always distributed symmetrically. One side may heal more slowly, especially if the nose was crooked before surgery, the face was asymmetrical, or the tissue dissection was more extensive on one side. Sleeping position can also create the appearance of a temporary deviation.<\/p>

In the early healing period, swelling alone cannot determine whether the nasal axis will remain permanently crooked. The assessment becomes more reliable when the soft tissues have settled over the course of months.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

As with any surgery, rhinoplasty carries a risk of certain complications. Sometimes there is slight bleeding in the days after surgery. There may be functional problems - the nose does not breathe as it should after surgery. And there may be cosmetic defects, which sometimes require a repeat operation. During the pre-operative consultation, I inform patients about these risks in more detail. In general, I am available to patients in the postoperative period and, if necessary, we will resolve any concerns together.<\/p>
